Yard work and feeding

This is my helper. She feeds the goats and helps me plant the garden, too. Yep she's awesome.

Obi helped too. He carried little bowls of water to the newly planted flowers to give them a drink.

Awesome yard tools, awesome yard

Having not been home a lot, I missed some of the spring blooming. My cherry tree flowered without me this year, but at least Rosie and Michelle got to enjoy it.

Now that things are growing fast, overgrowth happens seemingly over night, especially after a heavy rain like we had last week.  So, today being my only day to be home and outside before traveling again, I whipped out my handy-dandy tools and spruced things up.

Last year I was frustrated because I wanted some weeds whacked and just wasn't able to hold the tool that Steve and William use. Stupid thing is too long and too heavy for me. So I bought this awesome little lithium powered Black and Decker weed whacker - and the thing is incredible! Weighs 5 pounds or less... and I can't believe what it can handle, tall, gnarly weeds, edging, it's super.  I really enjoy going outside and cleaning up the edges now, keeping things looking tidy and not having to ask William to cut things for me.

So, now that it's spring, my hedges were looking pretty terrible. William's always traveling now and doesn't have time to help me trim, and again, I can't hold the gas powered trimmers so I got myself another battery operated tool.  Now I can trim all my hedges and it cost my no more than a single fee of a gardner to do it for me. My yard looks awesome now.

Rosie and I spend a couple of days this week planting flowers and clearing out weeds in the front flower bed, so we're all ready to enjoy a summer full of color.
