Annual Danger

Autumn is a dangerous time. The air is crisp, the skies are full of fluffy clouds, the wind is sharp, blowing leaves in swirls around the tree trunks. I love this time of year.

Except for the calories.

Michelle ordered a case of Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie mix to take to her, so naturally, I had to sample it, to make sure it was good quality.

It was.

Now all I have to do is avoid eating too many of these for breakfast. Or dinner.
It is NOT an easy task.

Somewhere.....

I clicked my heels and said, "There's no place like home." Then a rainbow appeared.

I love a rainbow. Today one appeared over my hotel in Florence, South Carolina. I think it is the first time I could clearly see the violet on the lower end of the rainbow. It wasn't even raining. Plus, when I opened my eyes, I still wasn't home.

I guess that's only in fairytales.

My puppy dog

Yogi is now 6 months old. This picture is on Labor Day, so it's now a couple of weeks old, but he's really growing fast.

Ethan's First game of Soccer

Ethan loves to play ball. If it's round (or oblong), it's Ethan's thing. Today I was able to go to Ethan's first soccer game, and he had fun. He got a few chances to play goalie, and he also got to run around a lot. He gets very hot when he plays, it was only about 75 during this game, but he really worked up a sweat.

He's also a big ham, as you can see!

Remember these?

I've been unpacking all of our crap from California. Some of it's fun - things I hadn't seen in a long time. Many things ended up in the trash that I knew I would not want to unpack and clutter up my cabinets. But some things just had to come with us. Like these.

Remember them? We had fun making these, and I find it amusing - even amazing - that even in 1991 when we drew these
(Michelle dated hers), you kids knew what dad wanted.

I also find it interesting, looking at these pictures, how the drawings you made then, nearly 20 years ago, still reflect things about who you are and what you like. It's a little picture of you, both then, and now.
It makes me smile.

Lake Lure

Hidden lake spa

I was driving around today and saw a sign that said Lake Front homes (don't worry, I wasn't looking for a lakefront home, just a lakefront or waterfall). I thought that sign might mean a lake was nearby. Turns out it was a pretty good clue.

Then I saw a billboard for Lake Lure Inn & Spa and I thought of my sister, who enjoys visiting health spas. This place is slightly isolated but not too far off the main highway. It's like a mini-Lake Tahoe. It's actually located in North Carolina, just north of the South Carolina border.
