Duct Tape Treatment

I'll spare you the picture.

I'm not really sure you would want to see the bottom of dad's foot.
Neither did I.

Thanks to Stevie and his brilliant ideas, Dad has been wearing duct tape on his heal for the past six weeks.

It all started when dad noticed a wart. Stevie told dad that he could cure it with duct tape.

Does Stevie really think we are that gullible?
Well, apparently.

But, he insisted that if dad wore duct tape on his wart, it would die, due to lack of oxygen.

So when I came home yesterday, dad asked me to take off his duct tape and look at the wart.

A pleasant idea and welcome home.

There was no wart. The foot is completely healed. Not even a callous.

Ok, so it worked. I wonder what other brilliant cures Stevie has. :-)

Rainy Day, Wine & Cheese

It was a rainy day today. I sat on the porch swing, had some wine with a little cheese and just enjoyed it.

I sent that report to dad and got the following in reply:

"Maybe I need a blog site.

That way when I shoot myself in the leg with a nail gun, instead of just showing the guys at work so they get all grossed out, I can take a picture of it and gross everybody out.

I worked until noon. Then I came home and took a nap.

I envy you. It sounds like you had a great day. Maybe I should get some wine and cheese and sit in the sprinklers. Then I can take a picture of it and put it on my blog."

Meet Horace

I got home from Mae's today and met my tenant, waiting on the back porch.

He is much fatter than I thought he would be. At least I know he earns his keep.

Double Whammy!

I was staring out the office window today during a telephone meeting and noticed what looked like poison ivy growing on my garden wall. So I went out to investigate.

Yep. It's poison ivy. But there was something else.

A four foot long snake had just shed his skin - the skin is still soft and flexible. It's gray with even the little brown head piece still attached.

Talk about your comfort levels....

EEEK!

Need more pictures to help identify? This is a great resource.

Friends don't let friends ...

Yes, we are friends. He stares at me through the window while I work, and I watch him while he isn't looking.

It has been 7 1/2 weeks. He is still at it, every day, daylight till dusk.

Black iris

It isn't totally black but pretty close.

What I've been do'in

I work all day, and rarely take a break. The last few days I've been getting up super early and planting or moving plants before I start working. Then later, after I've had a full day of staring at my computer screen, I go out and dig some more.

If they survive, things should look a lot different in a month.

This is how my flower bed looks with new plants. I just added the Grecian pot, and I really like it, I am thinking of adding two larger ones on either side of the stairs to the front door. What do you think?

It pays to visit the sick and aged

We visited my great Aunt Geneva today. She lives at Waverly's assisted living home, Magnolia Place. They had open house today, celebrating five years. I won the door prize. :-)

Not the reason I went - I didn't even know there would BE a door prize, but it was a fabulous reward.

Iris bed still in bloom

How long are irises supposed to bloom? Mine are still going strong.

Tulip tree

This is what they call a tulip tree here and you can see why.
